Dolphins hoping for strong day three showing

Durban - The Hollywoodbets Dolphins will need to show significant fight on day three of their 4-Day Domestic Series match with the Warriors at Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium after the visitors took control of the fixture on day two on Friday.

Continuing where they left off on Thursday the Warriors continued to pile the pressure on the Dolphins bowlers as Eddie Moore went to a well-deserved double hundred and lower order batsman Jade de Klerk helped.

Kelly Smuts was the first wicket of the morning for the Dolphins when he was caught at slip off Prenelan Subrayen for 76.

De Klerk and Moore then put on a partnership of 88 before the opener was eventually dismissed after nine hours at the crease. He became Subrayen's second victim of the day caught by Sarel Erwee for 228.

De Klerk fell short of his first franchise half century when he stepped on his stumps off the bowling of Subrayen.

Senuran Muthusamy then picked up the wicket of Sisanda Magala for ten and then Subrayen bagged his fourth when Basheeru Walters was caught in the deep.

The Dolphins innings got off to a poor start when Erwee was out LBW for just three in the fourth over of the reply.

Captain Marques Ackerman and Grant Roelofsen combined to add 43 for the second wicket until a fluent looking Roelofsen hit one to mid on and was caught for 24.

Cody Chetty was the third wicket to fall, caught at slip for twelve.

Ackerman showed the form that has got a lot of people around the country talking as he stroked his way to an effortless 77 off just 82 balls before he hit the second ball after tea to deep square leg.

At the drop of his wicket the Dolphins were 127 for four.

Sibz Makhanya then hit one straight to cover when he was on four and Mangaliso Mosehle was caught at mid-off for three.

Bad light then brought an early end to proceedings for Friday with the Dolphins languishing on 157 for six. They still trail the Warriors by 356 runs.
