Dolphins grab the advantage after day one at Centurion

Durban - Following the loss of the toss and a tough first session with the ball the Hollywoodbets Dolphins fought back to restrict the Momentum Multiply Titans to 269 for nine after day one of their 4-Day Domestic Series match at SuperSport Park.

The home side had the lions share of the momentum in the opening session as their openers Aiden Markram and Dean Elgar dominated the Dolphins bowlers.

The Dolphins bowlers drew a blank in the morning session as the Titans went into lunch on 92 without loss as the Dolphins bowlers toiled with no reward.

It was a different story after the lunch break as the visitors, lead by Ruan de Swardt, began making headway into the Titans order.

Ottniel Baartman struck first when he had Elgar caught in the slips for 52. Neil Brand was run out off the hand of Daryn Dupavillon without scoring and the Titans were 144 for two.

The patience from the Dolphins bowlers lead to the wicket of Theunis de Bruyn, well caught by Lifa Ntanzi for 22 off the bowling of Keshav Maharaj.

Danger man Markram was the next wicket when he was also well caught; this time by Andile Phehlukwayo in the gully for 75. At that stage the Titans were 157 for four.

At the tea break the score reflected a much better session for the Dolphins with the Titans 182 for four.

The Dolphins continued to strike in the afternoon session five wickets falling.

De Swardt picked up three of them with the wickets of Sibonelo Makhanya, Diego Rosier and Rivaldo Moonsamy. He returned figures of four for 41 on day one.

Keshav Maharaj bagged two more wickets in the evening session when he dismissed Junior Dala and Lungi Ngidi before bad light stopped play.

The Titans will resume on day two on 269 for nine.
