Dolphins fight back on day two

Durban - The Hollywoodbets Dolphins are fighting their way back into the 4-Day Domestic Series clash with the Imperial Lions at Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium after they finished day two on 189 for four on Friday.

The Lions continued where they left off on day one with the bat as they added 96 runs to their total in the first session of the day up to the lunch break but the bowling from the Dolphins was disciplined as they picked up two wickets in the process.

Kagiso Rapulana became Eathan Bosch's second victim when he was caught in the slips by captain Marques Ackerman for 33 before Ruan Haasbroek was run-out after a sustained period of pressure from the Dolphins with the ball.

The Lions declared at lunch on 428 for five and the Dolphins openers looked sound when they came to bat after the break.

Thamsanqa Khumalo and Grant Roelofsen played some good strokes in and amongst some solid defence as they put on 54 for the first wicket before Khumalo was caught by wicket-keeper Haasbroek for 31.

Captain Ackerman struck two boundaries before he was dismissed by Tladi Bokako for nine and then the set Grant Roelofsen was dismissed for 66, caught off the bowling of Bjorn Fortuin.

Khaya Zondo built patiently for the Dolphins before he was dismissed for 44, LBW to Malusi Siboto with the score on 167 for four.

Jason Smith and Ruan de Swart then carried the Dolphins to the close of play.

Smith ended the day on 25 not out off 80 deliveries while De Swart is eleven not out going into day three on Saturday.

The Dolphins finished the day on 189 for four, trailing the Lions' first innings score by 239 runs.
