KZN & KZN Inland appoint new amateur managers

Durban – With the 2017/18 season fast approaching, the KwaZulu-Natal and KZN Inland Cricket Unions have appointed Ritesh Ramjee and Jason Sathiaseelan as their respective managers of amateur cricket.

Ramjee, who filled the role of amateur cricket manager at KZN Inland until the end of last season, is excited by his move to the coast, and sees the move as a positive career move.

“It is definitely a move that I am happy to be making as I know that I am moving up in my career with KZN cricket,” Ramjee said.

“I want to work really hard in getting the union to a position that I am happy with, we need to set a high standard across the board.

“We are going to put structures in place that will see us succeed in the long term.

“There is a great bunch of players and coaching staff here and if we all work together then we will be successful.”

Ramjee’s time at KZN Inland saw them show a 13% overall improvement through all of their cricketing programs as well as winning RPC/Hub Coach of the year.

Taking over from Ramjee is experienced cricket administrator Jason Sathiaseelan, who is also a man hoping to make a resounding impact on the Pietermaritzburg-based union.

“I have been involved in cricket for 28 years but recently took the reins of Clubs and Facilities Coordinator at KZN Inland.

“Cricket is undoubtedly my passion and although I am still learning the ropes from an administrative perspective I have got a few key focal points,” Sathiaseelan mentioned.

“Funding will be a primary focus for me during my time here and upgrading the Oval and leaving a legacy of my own is important.”

KZN Inland might have battled a bit last season but Sathiaseelan is positive that they can turn that around.

“We have brought in a few players this season and with coach Shane Burger I know that we can have another positive season and get back to our trophy-winning ways.”

KZNCU Chief Executive Officer Heinrich Strydom is excited by the two new appointments.

“Ritesh has been involved with KZN cricket for a number of years and so brings a lot of experience back to Durban.

“He was involved at Kingsmead before his stint in Pietermaritzburg where he did a great job.

“Jason has been involved in high level business and is an exciting prospect when it comes to taking Inland forward.

“We are excited to have these two men taking up important positions and we know that they are going to bring exciting new things to the table,” Strydom said.
