DAY THREE OF SPLASHY FEN AND SPIRITS ARE HIGH

Underberg - It’s official! Splashy Fen Music Festival has sold out! 7 000 pre-sale ticket purchases were made online and sales were closed on Friday the 30th of March. It is the first time in the festival’s history that tickets have been capped – a commitment made by the festival management to ensure a quality Splashy Fen experience for all who attend.

Friday night saw international drum and percussion band Napalma wow the crowds with their catchy beats and vivacious crowd presence. Mango Groove also performed on the Budweiser Main Stage and did what they always do; creating an atmosphere that adds to the Splashy experience. The 6 000-strong crowd sang along to old favourites as Claire and her musically gifted crew danced and trumpeted away on stage. Rubber Duc, Abagqobi and Hot Water also performed to a full marquee of Splashy Fenners.

Day Three was another early start for campers with trail running and yoga sessions down by the river. Drumming and belly dancing workshops provided ample entertainment for interested fans, children created hanging artworks to take home and the Food Court was a hub of activity from as early as 7 o’clock with coffee stations at full tilt.

International act The Pierce Brothers surprised revelers down at the river for an impromptu set on the Corona River Stage on Saturday. An overflowing crowd lapped up their folky magic, as others floated down the stream on lilos, lazed along the river banks, or played in the zorb ball soccer tournament.

The Splashy site was also filled with weird and wacky characters on Saturday, as fans dressed up in all different sorts of gear, ready for the official Splashion Show, where two people could win a trip to the Seychelles courtesy of Eden Island. The prize went to a very impressive Bat Man and his side kick Wonder Woman with their handmade outfits.

Sunday’s line-up includes Ard Matthews, Matthew Mole, Pierce Brothers, Desmond and the Tutus and Goodluck on the Budweiser Main Stage. 4AM, Stone Jets, Josh Wantie and Monark on the Corona River Stage. Sennora & Kritik, Slim Beats, Groove Two Us, Huckleberry, Jayy Jabs and CHunda Munki on the Red Square Electric Boma.

Day passes are available at the gate for R350 for adults and R100 kids U12. Day passes will be sold at the full festival price of R850 at the gates and patrons leaving before 09h00 the next day will be given a refund based on the day that they attended.
