Land Rover continues to drive uBhejane
Hillcrest - As the 2017 edition of the uBhejane Xtreme Mountain Bike
Challenge draws nearer, the organisers have been given the peace of mind
that Land Rover Durban will once again be supplying four vehicles to
shepherd riders all 340km from the Cadence Cycling Performance Centre in
Hillcrest to Hilltop Camp in Hluhluwe on Saturday, 9 December.
The fourth edition of the event will be taking place and over the years it
has grown in leaps and bounds with the awareness for Project Rhino and
their involvement in anti-poaching increasing through many initiatives
like the uBhejane Xtreme.
It is well documented that Land Rover Durban have been involved in this
event since it was just an idea and have been one of the rocks that has
helped the 340km bike ride continue to raise awareness and funds for a
cause that has taken the world by storm.
"Land Rover Durban has once again shown its commitment in supporting this
unique event, since its inception," Andre Schrenk, dealer principle at
Land Rover Durban mentioned.
"Land Rover Durban is proud to be associated with this great event, &
initiative in raising support, & awareness in fighting the plight of the
"Four Land Rover Discovery Sports, will be on hand to offer logistical
support, to riders throughout this gruelling Challenge. Land Rover
vehicles are renowned for their support of global wildlife support
initiatives, and Land Rover Durban strives to continue this legacy of
support for the endangered Rhino population."
With the largest field assembled for the event, making sure that there is
support for all riders is vital and Land Rover will play an important part
in making sure that all riders get to the finish at Hilltop Camp.
"This year we see more participants, & greater support than ever before.
"Land Rover Durban wishes them all a great day of adventure, and most
importantly well done to all, in working towards supporting the
beneficiaries of this great event," Schrenk added.
Scouts Howick have been keen Supporters of Project Rhino since starting
the #ScoutsRhinoShoutOutChallenge in 2016 which was a voice of support at
a launch in Umgeni Valley last year. This is a viral social media war cry
aimed at the scout community worldwide. There are over 40 million Scouts
in the world and their partnership with Project Rhino was used to spread
the message across the globe.
The Scouts support the Ubhejane Xtreme at the finish and at the iconic
Bronze Rhino where branding flags and platforms need to be erected. They
will assist in tent erection and making of the fires for the function at
