Land Rover continues to drive uBhejane Xtreme

Hillcrest - As the 2017 edition of the uBhejane Xtreme Mountain Bike Challenge draws nearer, the organisers have been given the peace of mind that Land Rover Durban will once again be supplying four vehicles to shepherd riders all 340km from the Cadence Cycling Performance Centre in Hillcrest to Hilltop Camp in Hluhluwe on Saturday, 9 December.

The fourth edition of the event will be taking place and over the years it has grown in leaps and bounds with the awareness for Project Rhino and their involvement in anti-poaching increasing through many initiatives like the uBhejane Xtreme.

It is well documented that Land Rover Durban have been involved in this event since it was just an idea and have been one of the rocks that has helped the 340km bike ride continue to raise awareness and funds for a cause that has taken the world by storm.

"Land Rover Durban has once again shown its commitment in supporting this unique event, since its inception," Andre Schrenk, dealer principle at Land Rover Durban mentioned.

"Land Rover Durban is proud to be associated with this great event, & initiative in raising support, & awareness in fighting the plight of the Rhino.

"Four Land Rover Discovery Sports, will be on hand to offer logistical support, to riders throughout this gruelling Challenge. Land Rover vehicles are renowned for their support of global wildlife support initiatives, and Land Rover Durban strives to continue this legacy of support for the endangered Rhino population."

With the largest field assembled for the event, making sure that there is support for all riders is vital and Land Rover will play an important part in making sure that all riders get to the finish at Hilltop Camp.

"This year we see more participants, & greater support than ever before.

"Land Rover Durban wishes them all a great day of adventure, and most importantly well done to all, in working towards supporting the beneficiaries of this great event," Schrenk added.

Scouts Howick have been keen Supporters of Project Rhino since starting the #ScoutsRhinoShoutOutChallenge in 2016 which was a voice of support at a launch in Umgeni Valley last year. This is a viral social media war cry aimed at the scout community worldwide. There are over 40 million Scouts in the world and their partnership with Project Rhino was used to spread the message across the globe.

The Scouts support the Ubhejane Xtreme at the finish and at the iconic Bronze Rhino where branding flags and platforms need to be erected. They will assist in tent erection and making of the fires for the function at Hilltop Camp.

The 2017 uBhejane Xtreme MTB Challenge takes place from Hillcrest to Hluhluwe Game Reserve on Saturday 09 December. Those interested in taking part may apply to enter, donations can be submitted and more information can be found via the eventís website, www.ubhejanex.org.
