Gameplan Media was founded by Dave Macleod in 1997, and is an established specialist sport media and public relations practitioner. Tim Whitfield took over the running of Gampeplan Media in 2023 after Dave emigrated to Canada, but the two work still closely together to ensure the same high standards.
Tim has seen sport from many different viewpoints, which gives him a unique understanding of what the media wants, what events and sponsors need, and how to deal with sportsmen and women. As a sports journalist and editor of sports publications, he has covered sport all over the world at all levels. He was the head of sport for South Africa’s largest newspaper group and led their team to the 2012 Olympic Games, he has covered World Cups, World Championships and Olympic Games, and hundreds of local events for over 40 years. Tim was an elite level canoeist and won a national championship as well as competing in international events, before becoming a passionate recreational cyclist. He also understands the pressures of event organisation as the Race Director for the Hill 2 Hill MTB Marathon for 12 years, which, at the time, was KZN’s top one-day event.
