Speed and power meets style and elegance Durban - Speed and power combined with style, elegance and grace was on show when the traditional at the Hollywoodbets Durban July Gallops which took place at Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse on Thursday morning. For the punters it was a chance to assess the form of the horses taking part in Africa's Greatest Horseracing Event on July 1, while the fashionistas had a glimpse and insight into the glamorous fashion which will be on show. A big crowd braved the early morning winter chill on Thursday to witness local-based thoroughbreds from the final field of 18 runners and two reserves being put through their paces. With a field loaded with former champions and superstars, punters soaked up the chance to get a look at their personal favourites, and take the opportunity to watch and debate who is going to be crowned as the 2023 champion. Between each gallop, droves of fashionistas were also able to enjoy the spectacle of models in the Young Designer Award and Durban Fashion Fair Rising Stars Collection showing off the designer's creations and interpretation of the 2023 Out of this World Theme. For the fashion followers, the official gallops was also something of a sneak preview of Friday's Gateway Hollywoodbets Durban July Preview Show at the Gateway Theatre of Shopping. This showcase will give KZN fashionistas another opportunity to see some of the spectacular designs that will be on show on July 1. All ten finalists in the Hollywoodbets Durban July Young Designer Award presented by Durban Fashion Fair will present their interpretations of the Out of this World theme, alongside designs from the Durban Fashion Fair Rising Stars Collection and the Invited Designer Showcase.
