Shongweni Farmers Market "Pop-Up Market' for Sharks Trail Adventure

Shongweni – Families planning to be part of the STIHL Sharks Trail Adventure at the Summerveld state on Sunday 2 December can look forward to a special pop-up edition of the famous Shongweni Farmers Market.

Staged in the shade of the huge plane trees and grassy surrounds of the equestrian district, the day of family-orientated trail runs and mountain biking is rounded off by the host of stalls from the Shongweni Farmers Market and live music, providing families with an opportunity to relax at the start of the end-of-year holidays.

“This is a carefully selected pop-up version of the main Shongweni Farmers Market that is held every Saturday a little further up the road, and is tailored to suit the needs of this fun family day,” said Christine Stendeaven, the co-coordinator of the Shongweni Farmers Market.

“The focus is on food and drink and arts and crafts that might be of interest as Christmas presents,” she said.

“Being in early December the weather is usually good, and the gin-and-tonic and craft beers on tap are always very popular,” she said.

“There is a fantastic ‘old school’ fete feel to the whole day, which involves every member of the family at some stage, from the serious mountain bike marathoners to the kiddies fun run and ride with Sharkie.

“Our stall holders will have a variety of interesting breakfast and lunch options, and they enjoy the relaxed vibe, working from gazebos instead of the usual permanent structures at the Farmers Market,” she added.

“It is a beautiful grassy venue with plenty of shade under the trees, which tends to invite people to stay, relax and enjoy the chilled family vibe of the day.

“It’s a day our tenants look forward to as it gets everyone into that holiday frame of minds,” she concluded.
